My idea is that Moderators should have the option to hide their Mod tag but still use the nick command. My reason for this is as follows: When a player is using Kill Aura, or some other type of hack, someone in the chat will either message or directly ask a Mod to ban the player. Now, when the Mod gets word of a player hacking he will use the Vanish function. But the hacker can see the Mod disappear in the player list and quickly turn it off with a hotkey. So if the Mods disguise themselves as normal players they could play the game and hackers will not be inclined to turn off their hacks when they become suspicious. Moreover, Mods with this function enabled should be able to be seen by other Mods. And my final reason concerns Players targeting Moderators. I chatted with Cwes who mentioned that players tend to target and kill Mods a lot in the games. But with this requested change, that type of activity would be impossible. Thank you for reading.
I do like the idea and I do think it does have a great purpose. If I'm in a game and there is a hacker then they are obviously going to toggle off when it comes to fighting me. My only issue with this suggestion is that staff will probably end up using it a lot. The same issue applies with vanish. Staff tend to hide in /v when they are online and when they are in vanish, players aren't able to see if a staff member is online or not. Now I know Noodle and cwes were promoted recently and they have been active a crap ton but before that, I would see players complaining in chat all the time about never seeing staff members online and that would be because everyone would be in /v the majority of the time. The implementation of this feature obviously doesn't resolve that issue. I'm in support of it as long as it's only being used for moderation purposes and isn't being used all the time.
This sounds like a really good idea! I do think that people are more likely to hide their hacks when in-game with mods, which could make it hard to obtain sufficient proof.
